Blue musician Anthony “Big A” Sherrod from Mississippi for the first time in Israel!

Anthony “Big A” Sherrodis a blues singer and guitarist from Mississippi, a young artist growing up in the shadow of giants, making his debut performance in Israel this summer.

Big A grew up and went to school in the Delta Mississippi region, an artist of the younger generation who learned everything about music from the blues giants surrounding him when he was a boy – Big Jack Johnson, Johnnie Billington and others. His music is a combination of the ancient blues soul of old times, with a contemporary, sly charm. He is a singer and guitar player of the classic traditional blues, but occasionally plays bass (which he played for 17 years straight), drums and keyboard as well. Big A played with three great blues musician who visited Israel in recent years – Alvin “Youngblood” Hart, Robert “Bilbo” Walker, and James “Super Chikan” Johnson.

Big A took his first musical steps at the age of 5, participating in a special educational program in the Mississippi for the conservation of the blues music and culture. Today, after many years of hard work, practice and performing he teaches young boys and girls the secrets of the genre. Befitting a traditional Mississippi bluesman he performs often but his recordings are a rare commodity. Hard-core blues fans saw him in an unforgettable performance on the documentary film “We Juke Up In Here”, which documented in real time the Delta blues scene, with the film theme song performed by him.

Big A plays electric guitar, dances, sings and goes wild on stage. He is bringing all the passion and soul of the blues music he learned for many years in Mississippi over to Israel. For anyone interested in soaking in blues music and culture straight to the veins – his show is the way. Big A will be accompanied by Yehu Yaron (Bass) and Aviv Barak (drums).
