Mike’s Place Bar and Restaurant, located in downtown Jerusalem, has long been a home away from home for Americans living or visiting Israel.  Their annual Thanksgiving dinner is perhaps the best expression of that relationship.  Among the Americans living in Israel are individual lone soldiers who left the comfort of their families behind, and came to serve in the IDF.  Over the years, Mike’s Place has made an effort to include the lone soldiers they know in the Thanksgiving festivities by offering them dinner plates for free after the main meal.  This year, Mike’s Place would like to invite these young men and women to the full three course meal, and for that we are asking for your support.

 Mike’s Place has teamed up with the event website goshow.co.il to make it possible for you to join us in buying a lone soldier a full Thanksgiving experience.  The cost of the dinner, roughly $36 (138 NIS) includes an opening course of soup and salad; a main course of succulent turkey breast, cranberry sauce, stuffing, cornbread, and yams; red wine, and dessert of hot apple pie.  Rounding out the experience are the holiday decorations and live NFL games on TV.  At night, the Elevators, a local Grateful Dead cover band put on a live show of Classic American Rock n’ Roll.
