The hilarious British Comedy (premiered November 21, 1792 in London) is one of the funniest British operas ever written, composed by one of the major British composers of the 18th century. With its original score lost in the 1809 Drury Lane Theatre fire, its score is now reconstructed for the first time by David Sebba and it will be presented in a delightful and colorful performance by the soloists of the Meitar Opera Studio (The Young Artists Program of the Israeli Opera) and the PHOENIX Ensemble playing on period instruments.
