 Smetana String Quartet No. 1 From My Life

​ Shostakovich String Quartet No. 8

 

In this concert we will take a look at the intimate world of Smetana and Shostakovich, each of whom composed works inspired by their own complex and courageous biographies. What motivates composers to use their life story for musical inspiration? And to what extent is autobiography committed to the truth?
